My best friend? Stewart, my dog. Stewart’s best friend? Me, I hope. But coming in at a close second would have to be either the Frisbee or his bone.

Now I’m not talking about your run-of-the-mill turkey or chicken bone here. I’m describing the eco-friendly dog bone—with squeaker—I recently ordered.

Now I’ll admit, I’ve been known to describe myself as a half-hippie. I usually separate my plastics and try to recycle as much as possible. I enjoy camping and hiking in the outdoors. But, I’ve never considered for a second enlisting in Green Peace or producing my own electricity. You could say I’m a pretty average guy. So at first, I was a bit hesitant to purchase an organic dog bone. It felt a bit like passing over onto the other side of eco-absurdity.

I decided to discuss the pro and cons with my girlfriend and she gave me the go ahead to place the order convincing me it would be an affordable gift for Stewart’s birthday (only $13 at Nelliefay.com) and provide the opportunity to teach him a thing or two about preserving our precious ecosystem. They’re never too young to start learning.

Overall, Stewart and I have been happy with the dog bone. It is made of soft material which makes it safe for his teeth and is fairly durable. He has actually started sleeping with the toy, which I should really get a picture of. Overall, I’d recommend this cute dog bone even if you aren’t an eco-nut. In fact, I’m might order him a new one next year.
