Howdy doody Green Thinkers!
It is May. After the April showers come May flowers – and who wants to welcome in the beauty with clutter and mess? not me.
So, in order to help you all keep your step sprung this spring with a little green I am going to share a few tips.
- Bugs aren’t clean. So, how can you repel them without using harmful pesticides to your animals & air alike? Well, consider sprinkling chili powder, baby powder, or powdered chalk around your entryways.
- Looking for an alternative to laundry soap? A friend of mine, Mystic & her friends from Georgia shared this recipe with me: 1 bar shaved Ivory soap, 1/2 C baking soda, & 1/2 C of Borax (found in your grocer’s laundry isle) A very easy powder version of detergent – but note, it does smell soapy, so if you can’t take it, consider adding a few small drops of essential oils of your favorite scent.
- PURGE! Purging might just be my favorite part of spring cleaning. Consider bringing all your hand-me-downs to Goodwill or Salvation Army and give someone a treasure! If your clothes is really worn and destined for the trash – still bring it to Goodwill, they pass them on to manufacturers who will turn those old shirts to cleaning rags. Or else, try to make a statement and bring your used clothing back to the retailer and ask them to recycle it, they might just get the point.
Here’s wishing you special springy sprung and the most beautiful flowers outside your cubicle window. Have a successful spring cleaning!

Should we still do spring cleaning if we’ve only been in our house for 6 months? I say YES! Got some things on my list right now.
