As you may have read, we depart tomorrow for Bonnaroo, a music & art fest in Tennessee with a very green focus.

Being who we are, and the fact we are going to a festival that is eco-friendly, we want to be sure to leave as little of a carbon footbrint as possible.  For that, I decided to share some of our packing tips that may be able to help you in future camping trips or while attending another music fest.

  • Ice will be limited.  Plus, ice takes extra energy to make and cubes are stored in plastic baggies that don’t always make their way to a trash can, if they do get there, they end up in a landfill.   So we thought ahead and took empty, used, milk containers, quart-size, and froze them in advance.  These reused containers will stay frozen longer in our cooler to maintain the temperature of our beverages.
  • Also, since ice is limited, we decided to bring food that will not require refrigeration.  All of these groceries are going in our handy-dandy reusable bags. Bring on the Peanut Butter & Honey sandwiches!  Apples and bananas mmmm!
  • Of course, we still need something to eat off of, we aren’t complete animals in the wild. So, we are bringing our own plate and silverware that we will wash off after each use.
  • We did think there may be some sort of rules/regulations about what we are allowed to bring into the festival grounds each day, so we made sure to look ahead.  This way, we know what we can have so there is no threat of it being taken away and wasted. Lucky us! We are allowed to bring in an empty water bottle.  So, I picked my favorite reusable jug and off we are for a day in the sun with some great tunes around us!
