HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!
Today, is a very special day. It is a day that we get to recognize and be thankful for the planet that we live on & can show how much we love it by actively conserving and protecting it!

I have chosen a vocabulary word/hypothesis to share with you that concludes we need the earth as much as it needs us (other than for obvious reasons).
I came across this hypothesis while browing an issue of The New York Times Magazine: The Green Mind, (April 19, 2009; pg12) where it reads, “We thrive in the presence of nature and suffer in its absence.”
Biophilia’s literal meaning is: “love of life or living systems.” E.O. Wilson, a Harvard biologist, used this hypothesis to explain that human affiliations with nature are rooted in our biology. This very nature is what attracts people to certain habitats and natural surroundings. It makes sense to me, I like lush beautiful surroundings free of garbage and global warming…
Some argue through biophilia that it is a love for life helps sutain life. This sentiment is defended by the idea that it is ingrained in our biology to love nature, and thus people keep plants and flowers in their homes and risk their lives to save animals.
Put that in a song to the Earth & sing it!
This concludes our Earth Day Vocabulary lesson. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy the celebration of our planet!
